This list is for creators and small brands who want more real Instagram followers without buying fake ones. We paid for 65 growth services and ran each one on a real account for 30 days. We ranked them on the followers they brought in, how many stayed, how safe they were, and what they cost. Kicksta came out on top.

Best for: Creators and small brands who want real growth
Kicksta's followers engaged more than those of any other service we tested: our engagement rate climbed from 4.1% to 5.5%. It added 248 real followers in 30 days, and 98% were still following two weeks after we stopped. Every new follower we checked was a real, active account in our niche.
Kicksta is one of the longest-running Instagram growth services, launched in 2017. It never sells followers and never uses fake accounts. It helps the right people discover your profile, and in our test it brought in the most engaged followers of any service we tried, and almost none of them left. Our full Kicksta review covers its pricing, safety and setup in more detail.
You add target accounts or hashtags that the kind of people you want already follow and interact with. Kicksta finds the real people behind them, filters out fake and inactive profiles, and likes a few of their posts from your account at a human pace. They get a notification, visit your profile, and follow if they like what they see. A clear dashboard shows what it did each day and which targets work best.
Almost anyone who wants real followers that engage: creators, small brands and businesses with a clear niche. It is especially good if you care about followers who stay and interact, not just a bigger number. The only people who should look elsewhere want hundreds of followers in a few days.

Best for: First-timers and local businesses
Upleap gave us a real account manager who set up and tuned our targeting every week. It brought in 448 new followers in 30 days, and 96% stayed after we stopped.
Upleap is built around people rather than software. Every customer gets an account manager who picks targets, checks results and adjusts the plan. It felt the most personal of all the services we tried. Read our Upleap review to see how its plans and account managers work.
After you sign up, your manager asks about your niche, goals and ideal followers. They set up the targeting, grow your account through organic engagement, and send you a short report each week. You can message them any time to change direction.
Busy business owners who want someone else to handle the details and like being able to ask a real person questions.

Best for: Creators and small businesses on a budget
Flock Social added 523 followers in 30 days, and almost all of them stuck: two weeks after the test ended, 99% were still following. Our reach nearly doubled over the month.
Flock Social gives you a full targeting toolkit at a low monthly price. You choose the influencers, hashtags and locations your audience follows, and it does the daily engagement from your account. It brought in the second-biggest follower gain of the five. You can read our full Flock Social review for plans, setup and safety details.
Once a short warm-up is over, Flock Social starts following people in your target audience. When someone follows back it likes their posts, and anyone who never engages is dropped after a while, keeping your ratio balanced. A live dashboard shows which targets are working.
Creators and small businesses on a budget who like to choose their own targets and check the results themselves.

Best for: Busy people who want growth on autopilot
Kenji lets its AI decide who to engage with, so there is very little to set up. It added 220 followers to our smallest test account in 30 days at a friendly price, and 96% stayed.
Kenji is an AI-powered growth tool. Instead of asking you to pick targets, it learns which accounts are most likely to follow you and engages with them automatically. For setup details and plan differences, see our Kenji review.
Connect your account, describe your niche, and Kenji's AI takes over: it picks targets, engages at a human pace and adjusts over time based on who follows back. You can see what it did in a simple dashboard.
Small accounts and beginners who want something affordable and simple, and do not need fine control.

Best for: Brands and creators who want managed growth
Nitreo added 679 followers in 30 days, the most of the five, and 97% stayed. Our reach almost doubled over the month.
Nitreo is a growth service with a real success team behind the dashboard, running since 2019. It combines follows and likes with story views, and mutes the accounts it follows so your own feed stays clean. Our Nitreo review goes through its plans and setup step by step.
You give Nitreo a set of niche hashtags and lookalike accounts and tighten the audience with filters. From there it works through follows, likes and story views directed at genuine, active people, while its success team helps you refine targets as results come in.
Brands and creators who want the largest real follower gain and are happy to work with a support team on targeting.

We also looked at these. Here is why they are not on the list.
Buzzoid is a long-running Instagram service that sells packages of likes, followers, views and comments, delivered to your account after you pay. Automatic likes on every new post are available too, and it does not ask for your Instagram password.
Why it didn't make the list
It works differently from the services on this list. Instead of helping people discover your profile, you buy a set number of likes or followers. That makes it hard to compare on the things we rank here, like how many real people follow and stay. In our 30-day test it added 8,059 followers, while our engagement rate went from 4.1% to 0.6% and 486 followers were gone two weeks later. Our Buzzoid review has the full results.
Who might still like it: People who want a quick, one-off boost on specific posts rather than ongoing audience growth.

Why it didn't make the list
It was one of the weakest tools we tested. It added 6,781 followers in 30 days, but our engagement rate fell from 3.3% to 0.4%, reach barely moved, and 502 followers disappeared within two weeks of stopping. That is the classic bot-follower pattern: a bigger number, no engagement, and a purge soon after. Support also took 12 hours to reply.
Who might still like it: We would not recommend it. Any of the five services above is a better use of your money.

Read our Plixi reviewAn Instagram growth service helps real people discover your profile so your follower count grows over time. Instead of you spending hours a day finding the right accounts and engaging with them, the service does that part for you.
Good growth services do not sell followers, use fake accounts or post on your behalf. They put your profile in front of people who are already interested in your niche, and those people decide for themselves whether to follow. That is the key difference between a growth service and a follower shop. Services that post for you are a different thing again: AiGrow fills your feed with sourced Reels, and in our test engagement dropped to 0.3%.
Almost every service on this list follows the same basic idea, with small differences in how much control you get and whether they need your login.
Services that log in to your account, like all five on this list, give you more control over targeting. Services that do not log in carry less risk but give you less say over who sees your content. Paying more for a person to log in doesn't guarantee better results either, as our SocialStud review shows.
These three are often lumped together, but they work very differently and lead to very different results.
| Growth service | Bot | Bought followers | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Followers are real | Yes | Mostly | No |
| Followers engage | Yes | Some | No |
| Risk to your account | Low | High | Medium |
| Speed | Weeks | Days | Hours |
| Typical cost | $39–$69/month | $10–$30/month | $5–$20 one-off |
Bots follow and unfollow thousands of accounts or leave generic comments, which Instagram detects easily. Bought followers are fake or inactive accounts that never like or comment, and they drag your engagement rate down. A growth service is slower, but it is the only one of the three that builds a real audience.
Instagram's usage terms do not allow automated activity, so no service that engages from your account is completely risk-free. In our tests, all five services on this list stayed at a human pace and none of our accounts got a warning.
Before connecting any service, turn on two-factor login protection and check you can still log in to the email address linked to your account.
Across the five services on this list, our test accounts gained between 220 and 679 new followers in 30 days. That is roughly 7 to 23 followers a day, and growth was rarely even. This is what a typical month looked like:
| Week | What happened |
|---|---|
| Week 1 | Slow start while the service learns your audience. Expect 20 to 60 new followers. |
| Week 2 | Growth picks up once the best targets are clear. Engagement on your posts starts to rise. |
| Weeks 3–4 | The strongest weeks. Most services brought in half their total followers here. |
| After you stop | Real followers mostly stay. We lost between 1% and 4% in the two weeks after cancelling. |
Your own results depend heavily on your content. Accounts that post often, use a clear style and have a niche grow fastest, because more of the people who visit decide to follow.
Pick a service that gets real people to find you, not one that sells followers. Bought followers never engage and Instagram removes them.
Some services need your Instagram password and some do not. If you would rather not share your login, choose one that works without it, though you usually give up some targeting control.
The better you can describe your ideal follower (accounts, hashtags, location), the more relevant your new followers will be. If you sell online, our Stim Social review covers a tool that suggests targets by industry.
Monthly prices on this list run from $39 to $69. Most also offer a free trial, so you can test one before you commit. If you can't spend anything yet, our SocialFollow review covers a free option that never asks for your password.
When growth stalls, a quick reply from support makes a real difference. We sent each service the same three questions and timed the answers.
Every new visitor sees your bio, profile photo and top nine posts before deciding to follow. Make your bio say clearly who you are and what people will get, and pin your three best posts.
Choose accounts that are similar in size and topic to yours, not just the biggest names in your niche. Followers of a mid-sized coffee creator are far more likely to follow a small coffee account than followers of a global brand.
Growth slowed on every service when we posted less. Two to three good posts a week, plus regular stories, was enough to keep new visitors following.
Most dashboards show which targets bring in followers. Drop the bottom two each week and try new ones. This single habit improved our results more than anything else.
This list is the overall ranking. If you have a narrower goal, these lists rank the same tested services from a different angle.
We paid for every tool. We bought each plan with our own card, just like you would.
We ran each one for 30 days. On real accounts we actually run, one tool at a time.
We measured the results. New followers, how many stayed, safety, support and real cost.
We scored and ranked them. The order follows our score out of 5, nothing else.
Kicksta is our top pick. Its new followers were the most engaged in our 30-day test, 98% of them stayed, and it scored 5/5.
The ones on this list are reasonably safe because they work at a human pace and use real accounts. None of them got our test accounts flagged. No service is risk-free, so turn on two-factor authentication before you connect one.
Most cost between $39 and $69 a month. Kicksta starts at $69, Upleap at $39, Flock Social at $39, Kenji at $39 and Nitreo at $39.
Expect a slower first week while each service learns your audience. In our tests most services picked up from week two, and the biggest gains came in weeks three and four.
No. Bought followers never like or comment, and Instagram regularly removes them. Real followers from a growth service actually engage with your posts.
All five services on this list connect to your account so they can engage for you. Turn on two-factor authentication before you connect any of them.
