Best for: Busy people who want growth on autopilot
The best value for small accounts. Kenji costs $39 a month to start, needs almost no setup, and its followers engaged more than before: our engagement rate went from 4.2% to 5.3%.
Kenji tops our budget list because it delivered real results on the smallest account we tested, at the lowest entry price on this list. Engagement rose from 4.2% to 5.3% and only 8 of its 220 new followers left after we stopped. The tiers are laid out in Kenji's plan breakdown.
Kenji's AI picks who to engage with based on your niche and refines its choices as people follow back. The $39 Social Rookie tier covers the growth pods network, live stats and round-the-clock help; account and hashtag targeting arrive on the $69 Digital Influencer tier.
Anyone on a tight budget who wants real followers without spending time on setup, especially accounts under 1,000 followers.
Price from $39/month
Best for: Creators and small businesses on a budget
523 new followers and a 99% keep rate, from a service that starts at $39 a month with a free week to try it. Strong value if you can stretch to the $69 tier for targeting later.
Flock Social gave us the most new followers per month of any $39-entry service except Nitreo, and kept almost every one of them. It also offers a 7-day free trial, so you can check the fit before paying anything. See Flock Social's tiers for what each adds.
Flock Social's team runs engagement for you. The $39 IG Newbie plan includes the growth pods network, real-time analytics and 24/7 support, and the $69 IG Explorer plan adds automated follows, targeting by account and hashtag, filtering and a weekly audit.
Budget-minded creators and small businesses who want the most growth per dollar and are happy to step up a tier once it is working.
Price from $39/month
Best for: First-timers and local businesses
A human account manager from $39 a month is unusual at this price. Upleap added 448 followers and our reach went from 13,346 to 26,470 accounts.
Upleap is the only service on this list that puts a person on your account at the entry price. It doubled our reach during the test and kept 96% of new followers. Our Upleap plan comparison shows exactly where each feature starts.
Every Upleap customer gets an account manager, including on the $39 Basic plan. Basic gives you the pods network, a live dashboard and chat help; the $69 Standard plan unlocks automated follows, hashtag and lookalike targets, filters and weekly reviews.
People who want a real person helping them even on a small budget, such as local shops and first-time users.
Price from $39/month
Best for: Brands and creators who want managed growth
The most followers per month in our tests for the same $39 starting price. Budget for the $69 tier if you want its location and hashtag targeting.
Nitreo brought in more followers than anything else we tested, 679 in a month, and 97% stayed. Its entry price matches the others, but you will want Essential for targeting, which is where its location focus pays off. The plans are explained in Nitreo's pricing tiers.
The $39 Intro plan comes with the pods network, live analytics and support at any hour. The $69 Essential plan brings automated follows, account and hashtag targets, more filters and weekly checks, and the $119 Speed plan adds Welcome DMs and gender targeting.
Local businesses that need followers from their own area and want to keep costs low while they test the idea.
Price from $39/month
Best for: Brands and online sellers
A $39 starting price with features built around selling, and engagement up by more than a point in our test. Growth was the slowest of the five, so it suits patient shops.
Stim Social rounds out the list as a budget pick for sellers. Its industry-based target suggestions save research time, and engagement rose from 3.4% to 4.5% in our test. There is no free trial listed, so you pay for the first month. Details are in Stim Social's plans.
Stim Social's $39 Entry plan offers organic growth with real-time analytics at a low speed. Professional at $69 adds follow automation, account and hashtag targets, industry suggestions and brand-safety filters, and higher tiers raise the speed.
Small online shops that want growth tied to sales and can live without a free trial.
Price from $39/month
Cheap Instagram growth comes in two very different forms. The first is a low-cost subscription that gets real people to notice your account. The second is a follower package for a few dollars that adds numbers but no audience. They can look similar on a pricing page, but our test results could not have been further apart.
| Budget growth service | Cheap follower package | |
|---|---|---|
| Typical price | $39/month to start | A few dollars per 100 followers |
| Engagement rate after 30 days | Up 1.1 to 1.5 points | Down to well under 1% |
| Followers lost within 14 days | 6 to 18 | Hundreds |
| Who follows you | Real people in your niche | Accounts that never react |
Four of the five services here start at exactly $39 a month, and they share a similar tier structure. Knowing what each tier includes stops you paying for features you don't use, or missing one you need.
| Tier | Monthly price | Typical features |
|---|---|---|
| Entry | $39 | Growth pods network, analytics, support |
| Middle | $69 | Adds account and hashtag targeting, filters, audits |
| Top | $119 | Adds Welcome DMs, gender targeting, faster growth |
For most people the middle tier is the sweet spot. Targeting is what turns random exposure into followers who match your niche, and it usually arrives one step above the entry price.
A low price only counts as good value if the followers it brings stay and engage. So for this list we looked at three things together: the monthly price of the cheapest plan that does the job, how many real followers the service brought in during our 30-day test, and how many remained a fortnight after we cancelled.
On that basis the order changes from a simple price ranking. Every service here starts at the same , so what separates them is what that money does. Kenji and Flock Social did the most for the least effort, Upleap added a person to help, Nitreo delivered the most followers once targeting was switched on, and Stim Social suits sellers who value its filters over speed.
One more cost to consider is your time. A cheaper plan that needs hours of setting up each week can end up more expensive than a slightly pricier one that runs on its own. The services we timed took between 5 and 20 minutes to set up, and none needed daily attention afterwards.
A low subscription only saves money if you use it well. These habits got the most out of the entry plans in our tests:
You can also do a lot for free: our free growth routine worked on our own account without any paid tool.
If you want to see how these budget picks compare with the wider market, including Kicksta, our main growth rankings put all of the top services side by side.
A cheap plan still connects to your account, so the same safety basics apply. Before you sign up, switch on Instagram's two-factor login and make sure the email tied to your account still works.
Be wary of anything that promises thousands of followers for a few dollars. Those offers tend to break Instagram's usage terms, and the followers they deliver are the first to vanish when Instagram cleans out fake accounts.
A good rule of thumb: if a price is quoted per 100 followers, you are buying numbers, not growth.
Kenji gives you the most for the least effort. It suits accounts under 1,000 followers that want growth without managing settings.
Flock Social's free week lets you see results before paying, and it kept 99% of the followers it brought in.
Upleap includes an account manager even on its $39 plan, which is rare at this price.
Nitreo brought in the most followers in our tests, and its location targeting on the $69 tier suits local businesses.
Stim Social's industry suggestions and brand-safety filters are built for online sellers, though growth is slower.
We paid for every tool. We bought each plan with our own card, just like you would.
We ran each one for 30 days. On real accounts we actually run, one tool at a time.
We measured the results. New followers, how many stayed, safety, support and real cost.
We scored and ranked them. The order follows our score out of 5, nothing else.
Kenji. Its entry price is $39 a month, setup is minimal, and on our smallest test account it raised engagement from 4.2% to 5.3% while keeping 96% of new followers.
Not with real followers. Services that charge a few dollars usually sell follower packages, and in our tests those accounts disappeared within weeks and dragged engagement down. Around $39 a month is the realistic floor for growth from real people.
On most of these services the $39 tier gives you the growth pods network, analytics and support. Account and hashtag targeting usually starts on the $69 tier, so check which features you need before choosing.
Flock Social, Upleap and Nitreo each offer a 7-day free trial, and Kenji's pricing page lists 3 days. Stim Social does not list a free trial.
It can be. At $69 a month Kicksta costs more, but it delivered the most engaged followers in our tests. If engagement matters more to you than price, it is worth the extra.
Plan for at least two months. Our tests showed a slow first week while each service learned the audience, and the strongest growth in weeks three and four.
