TOP LIST · INSTAGRAM GROWTH
This list is for anyone looking for an Instagram bot that won't fill their account with fake followers or get it blocked. Each tool spent 30 days on one of our real accounts, and we ordered them by what they automate, how safely they do it, and whether the followers they brought in stayed and engaged.

Best for: Busy people who want growth on autopilot
The closest thing to a hands-free Instagram bot that still brings real people. Kenji's AI chose the targets and lifted our engagement rate to 5.3%.
Kenji is the most genuinely automatic tool on this list: once connected, the AI does the targeting and the engagement. Unlike the bots that got our accounts flooded with fake followers, it raised engagement on our test account from 4.2% to 5.3%. The trade-off is less control; for example, follow and unfollow cannot be switched off. We go deeper in Kenji's automation explained.
Kenji's AI decides who to engage with from your account, based on your niche, and adjusts its choices according to who follows back. According to its own site it runs activity from real phones and warms new accounts up gradually, which keeps the pace closer to a person's.
People who want automation that runs itself and learns over time, without picking targets by hand.

Best for: Brands and creators who want managed growth
The widest range of automated actions on this list, plus location targeting. Nitreo brought in 679 followers and raised engagement from 2.6% to 4.1%.
Nitreo automates more kinds of activity than most tools here, including story views and muted follows, and its success team helps keep the settings sensible. It produced the most followers in our tests, 679, with 97% still there two weeks later. The full feature list is in Nitreo's feature tour.
You set targets by account, hashtag and location. Nitreo then views stories, follows and likes from your account, and can mute the accounts it follows so your home feed stays clean. A success team helps tune the targets.
Users who want automation with more levers to pull: locations, blacklists and story viewing.

Best for: First-timers and local businesses
Automation plus a person keeping an eye on it. Upleap doubled our reach and kept 96% of the 448 followers it brought in.
Upleap is automation with a supervisor. The engine handles the repetitive actions and a real person watches the results, which is the safest set-up we found for anyone nervous about letting software run their account. You can compare its plans in Upleap's managed automation.
Upleap pairs its automation with an account manager. From the $69 Standard plan it runs automated follows and unfollows with hashtag and lookalike targets, while the manager reviews results weekly and adjusts the settings.
Anyone who wants the time savings of automation with a human double-checking it.

Best for: Brands and online sellers
Automation built around brand safety, with NSFW filtering and industry-based targets. Slower growth, but engagement went up.
Stim Social is the most cautious bot here. Its filters decide who your account should never touch, which matters if a brand name is attached to every like. Growth was slower than the others in our test, 131 followers, but engagement still rose from 3.4% to 4.5%. More on its filters in Stim Social's filters.
On the $69 Professional plan Stim Social automates follows and likes toward your target accounts and hashtags. It suggests targets by industry, filters out NSFW accounts, and auto-whitelists people who engage so they are never unfollowed.
Brands that want automation with brand-safety filters, so the tool never engages with risky accounts.

Best for: Quick, paid boosts to likes and followers
The only delivery-style bot on the list. Useful for automatic likes on new posts, but the followers it delivered in our test did not engage.
Buzzoid is a different kind of bot. Rather than engaging with other people for you, it delivers likes and followers to your account. That makes it fast, but our results show the limit: followers jumped by more than 8,000, yet our engagement rate sank from 4.1% to 0.6%, and 486 of those accounts were gone a fortnight later. Read the details in our Buzzoid review.
Buzzoid's automatic likes watch your account for new posts and send a set number of likes to each one, from $19.99 a month for 50 per post. It also sells one-off follower, like and view packages, and an AI Growth plan from $69 a month.
People who want one specific automated job done: likes on every new post, sent without lifting a finger.
Price from $3.49 one-off
We also looked at these. Here is why they are not on the list.
Robolike is a free Instagram auto-liker app that you download and run on your own device.
Why it didn't make the list
It delivered bot followers. Our count went from 3,187 to 18,378 over the month, and our engagement rate slid from 3.1% to 0.2% and 332 had disappeared a fortnight after we stopped.
Who might still like it: Not recommended: every tool in our top five is safer.

Read our Robolike reviewFollowingLike is multi-platform automation software with proxies, browser fingerprints and bulk-account features.
Why it didn't make the list
Its features are built for running many accounts at once, and the accounts it added acted like bots: engagement slumped from 3.1% to 0.5%, with 315 gone inside two weeks.
Who might still like it: We would not recommend it for a real account.

Read our FollowingLike review"Instagram bot" covers a wide range of software. At one end are crude scripts that follow and unfollow thousands of accounts a day, leave generic comments and get accounts flagged. At the other end are services that automate a few careful actions toward the right people and leave the decision to follow with them.
| Type | What it does | Risk | Followers you get |
|---|---|---|---|
| Follow-unfollow script | Mass follows, then unfollows | High | Many, mostly fake or fleeting |
| Comment bot | Posts generic comments everywhere | High | Few, and it looks spammy |
| Engagement automation | Likes, follows and story views toward chosen targets at a human pace | Moderate | Real people who chose to follow |
| Delivery bot | Sends likes or followers to your posts | Moderate | Numbers that rarely engage |
The first four tools on this list are engagement automation. Buzzoid is a delivery bot. Knowing which kind you are buying explains most of the differences in our results.
Across our 30-day tests, the split was stark. The engagement-automation tools on this list each raised our engagement rate by between 1.1 and 1.5 points and lost fewer than 20 followers after we stopped.
The bot-style services we tested elsewhere did the reverse. Several added more than 10,000 followers in a month, but engagement fell below 1% and hundreds of followers disappeared within two weeks. Our Robolike bot review is a clear example: engagement went from 3.1% to 0.2%.
The signs of a bad bot are easy to spot in your Insights: followers shoot up, reach stays flat, and likes per post fall.
If you do use automation, set it up the way a careful person would use Instagram:
Turn on Instagram's two-factor security before you connect any tool, and confirm the email on your account still works.
It is also worth reading Instagram's usage terms so you know where the line sits.
Automation saves time, but it works best alongside the basics: a clear bio, a focused niche and Reels posted on a schedule. Our guide to organic follower growth shows what moved the numbers on our test account without any tool.
If you would rather have a service handle everything, including the strategy, our top growth services list ranks the managed options, led by Kicksta.
Pick Kenji if you want automation that sets itself up and improves on its own.
Pick Nitreo if you want the most automated actions, including story views and location targets.
Pick Upleap if you want a person checking what the automation does each week.
Pick Stim Social if every like carries your brand name and you need strict filters.
Pick Buzzoid only if you want automatic likes on new posts and understand they won't build an audience.
We paid for every tool. We bought each plan with our own card, just like you would.
We ran each one for 30 days. On real accounts we actually run, one tool at a time.
We measured the results. New followers, how many stayed, safety, support and real cost.
We scored and ranked them. The order follows our score out of 5, nothing else.
Kenji. Its AI handles targeting and engagement on its own, and unlike most bots it brought in real people: our engagement rate rose from 4.2% to 5.3% and 96% of new followers stayed.
Any tool that acts on your account carries some risk, because Instagram doesn't allow unauthorised automated access. The tools ranked here keep a human pace, and none of our test accounts got a warning. Bulk follow-unfollow bots that run at high speed are the ones that get accounts blocked.
A cheap bot that follows and unfollows thousands of accounts can add numbers quickly, but in our tests those followers vanished and engagement collapsed. The tools on this list grow more slowly because they target real people.
Most of them, yes. Kenji, Nitreo, Upleap and Stim Social connect to your account to act for you. Buzzoid's like and follower packages only need your username.
Kenji, Nitreo and Upleap start at $39 a month, though follow automation usually starts on the $69 tier. Buzzoid's automatic likes start at $19.99 a month.
Stop the tool straight away, change your password, and wait a few days before posting heavily again. Then restart at a lower activity level, or switch to a managed option like Upleap.
