Short version: Upleap pairs follow automation with real people who guide you, which makes it one of the friendliest growth services to start with. You can target by hashtag, similar account or location, and plans start at $39 a month after a 7-day free trial. For a more security-focused option, compare it with our Nitreo review.

What is Upleap?

Upleap describes itself as an Instagram agency with a heart. Its system reaches out to the people you choose to target, so the right people see your profile and choose to follow you.

Upleap says it has helped more than 57,000 customers, from athletes and students to photographers and companies. Its account managers are a core part of the service rather than an add-on.

How Upleap works

Upleap keeps the setup short and leaves the heavy lifting to its system and its team. Its strategy is simple: build connections with accounts that matter to you, based only on the preferences you set.

Step 1: Start the free trial

Sign up, pick a plan and connect your Instagram account. The 7-day trial begins straight away.

Step 2: Map your audience

Give Upleap hashtags, similar users or specific locations. Upleap calls this connecting the dots between you and the people you want to reach.

Step 3: Warm-up

Your account goes through a warm-up mode that takes about three days before new followers start to arrive.

Step 4: Growth on autopilot

On Standard and Pro, Upleap follows and later unfollows targeted users, and only engages with real accounts in your chosen audience.

Step 5: Guidance along the way

Account managers help you adjust your targeting as results come in, so you're never guessing on your own.

Who is Upleap best for?

Upleap is ideal if you'd like a person to talk to while your account grows. It's welcoming for first-timers, and its location targeting makes it handy for anyone whose customers live in one area.

It also sits comfortably next to the other Instagram growth platforms we review: similar core tools, but with more human help along the way. If you value a quick answer from a person over fine-grained settings, that difference matters more than any single feature.

A good fit if you

  • Are trying a growth service for the first time
  • Want customers or fans from a specific city or region
  • Like having an account manager to ask for advice
  • Run an agency and need white-label dashboards

Skip it if you

  • Want follow automation on the cheapest plan
  • Need someone to create your posts for you
  • Don't want to connect your Instagram login
  • Need hundreds of followers within a day or two

Why use Upleap at all?

Finding your audience by hand means hours of searching hashtags, checking locations and following people one at a time. Upleap automates that outreach so you can spend the time on content.

The guidance is what makes it stand out. New users often pick targets that are too broad or too big, and having an account manager point that out early saves a lot of wasted weeks on your path to organic Instagram growth.

Location targeting is another plus. A café, salon or gym can focus on people nearby instead of a scattered global audience.

How we tested it

We put Upleap to work for 30 days, from September into October 2026. Upleap worked on an account that began the test at 2,938 followers. Posting stayed at its usual rhythm, and we let the account manager handle targeting.

From Insights we tracked the follower count, engagement rate and accounts reached. We then stopped the service and looked again 14 days later to count lost followers.

What we liked

People, not just a dashboard

Upleap's account managers guide you at every step, which takes the guesswork out of choosing targets.

Targeting by location

Alongside hashtags and similar accounts, you can aim at people in specific places, a real help for local businesses.

A clear upgrade path

Basic is a gentle start. Standard is where targeting and automated follows kick in, and Pro tops things off with automatic hellos to new followers, Close Friends list adding and a gender filter.

What we didn't like

Basic is very light

The $39 Basic plan leaves out follow automation and account and hashtag targeting. Most people will want Standard at $69.

Cancel through support

Upleap says you can cancel any time, but the terms ask you to contact support at least 24 hours before billing and keep their confirmation.

What we liked

  • Pro: Account managers guide your targeting
  • Pro: Target by hashtag, account or location
  • Pro: Free week to try it before paying

What we didn't like

  • Con: Basic plan leaves out targeting
  • Con: Cancelling goes through support

Agencies can ask Upleap for a custom plan. The agency page quotes a daily fee of $1.80 for each client account, billed monthly by invoice, and white-label options are available.

Is Upleap safe?

Upleap says all its interactions run on real physical phones, which avoids the obvious signals that come from server-based bots. A short warm-up also eases each new account into activity.

Any service that follows people for you carries some risk, since Instagram's own guidelines don't allow automated access without permission. Upleap's terms place responsibility for following those rules on the customer. Keeping one growth tool per account and posting normally helps keep things steady.

Protect your account first with Instagram's two-factor setup, and make sure the email on your Instagram account is one you can still open.
