How we choose what to test
We test tools that people ask us about, tools that a lot of people search for, and tools in categories we already cover. Companies can't pay us to test their tool. Anyone can suggest a tool, including the company that makes it, but that doesn't change how we test it.
What we recommend, and why
We only recommend tools that worked in our own tests and that we'd trust with our own accounts. Our aim is to make the internet a little safer: to point you to tools that do what they promise, and to warn you about the ones that don't.
If a tool could get your account restricted, uses fake accounts, or handles your data badly, we say so clearly, even if it's popular. A tool's score comes only from what we saw when we tested it.
Who writes our reviews
Every review is written by the person who tested the tool. You'll see their name, photo, and the date of the test on every page. Meet the team →
Keeping reviews up to date
We recheck every review at least every 12 months, and sooner when a tool changes. The date at the top of every review shows when we last checked it.
Corrections
If we get a fact wrong, we fix it and add a note at the bottom of the page saying what changed and when. If a correction changes a score, we say that too.
