This list is for anyone thinking about buying Instagram followers. We tested one of the best-known follower sellers alongside four services that grow real followers instead, gave each a month-long run on a real account we manage, then compared what the money actually bought: followers, engagement and how many stayed.

Upleap is our top pick for people who arrive here wanting to buy followers. Fast growth from real people: 523 new followers in a month with a 99% keep rate, while bought followers in our tests vanished by the hundreds.
Speed is usually why people buy followers. Flock Social delivered the closest thing to that with real people: 523 new followers in a month, and only six left after we stopped. That is the opposite of what happens with bought packages. More in Flock Social's results.
Flock Social's team engages with people in your niche every day from your account. The followers you gain are real accounts that chose to follow, so they don't disappear when Instagram cleans out fakes.

Kenji costs about the same per month as a mid-sized follower package, but the followers are real. Our smallest test account gained 220 followers with it and pushed engagement up to 5.3%. If price is what draws you to buying followers, start here. Details in Kenji's monthly plans.

Best for: Brands and creators who want managed growth
The biggest real follower gain in our tests, with location targeting that makes the new audience useful to a local business.
Nitreo brought in the most followers of any real-growth service we tested, 679, and kept 97%. For a local business that wants a bigger number to look credible, followers from your own city are worth far more than a bought batch from anywhere. See Nitreo's targeting options.
You set target accounts, hashtags and locations. Nitreo then reaches those audiences through likes and follows from your account, so new followers come from the area and audience you choose.
Businesses that would otherwise buy followers to look established in their city.
Price from $39/month
Best for: Quick, paid boosts to likes and followers
If you are set on buying followers, Buzzoid is fast, password-free and long-established. Just expect the numbers to sit there: engagement dropped sharply in our test.
Buzzoid is the one site on this list that actually sells followers, and it is one of the longest-running, operating since 2012. It doesn't ask for your password and it is quick. But our results show what you are buying: more than 8,000 followers arrived, but engagement slid from 4.1% to 0.6%, and two weeks on, 486 had already left. The full results are in our Buzzoid test.
You choose a package, enter your username and pay once. Delivery usually starts within minutes. Followers come in High-Quality, Premium and VIP tiers, and drops are refilled for 30 days.
People who specifically want to buy a set number of followers or likes, delivered within hours, and accept that they won't engage.
Price from $3.49 one-off
We also looked at these. Here is why they are not on the list.
Famoid sells Instagram follower, like and view packages, delivered after a one-off payment.
Why it didn't make the list
It delivered bot followers. Followers jumped from 1,547 to 8,345 in our test, but engagement fell from 3.3% to 0.3% and 530 followers vanished within two weeks.
Who might still like it: We would not recommend it. If you want a seller, Buzzoid is more established; if you want real growth, choose any of the top four.

Why it didn't make the list
The followers behaved like bots: engagement dropped from 2.9% to 0.4% while the count rose by nearly 10,000, and 300 had gone two weeks after we stopped.
Who might still like it: We would not recommend it for an account you care about.

Read our UseViral reviewMost people who search for a site to buy Instagram followers want one of three things: to look established, to get past a low starting number, or to impress a brand or client. All three are fair goals. The question is whether a bought package actually gets you there.
We tested both routes. Four of the five services on this list don't sell followers at all: they grow your account with real people for a monthly fee. The fifth, Buzzoid, sells follower packages. Putting them side by side is the clearest way to see what your money buys.
| Bought followers (Buzzoid) | Real growth (top 4 average) | |
|---|---|---|
| New followers in 30 days | 8,059 | About 470 |
| Engagement rate after | 0.6% | 3.9% to 5.3% |
| Lost within 14 days | 486 | 6 to 17 |
| Reach change | +8% | +69% to +98% |
A follower count is a signal, but Instagram doesn't reward the number on its own. It looks at how people react to your posts. If thousands of followers sit silent, your engagement rate drops and Instagram starts showing your posts to a smaller audience. That is why our reach barely moved during the Buzzoid test, even with 8,000 more followers.
Brands notice too. A sudden jump in followers with no rise in likes stands out in any audience check. If you plan to work with sponsors, a smaller audience that engages is worth more than a large one that doesn't.
If you still want to buy, a few precautions limit the damage:
Turn on Instagram's two-factor setup before you connect anything to your account, buying or not.
It's also worth knowing what Instagram's usage terms say about inauthentic activity before you decide, because the account at risk is yours.
You don't need a paid service to grow. Our guide to growing real followers covers the profile fixes and posting routine that worked on our own test account.
And if what you want is a free starting boost, a follower exchange like SocialFollow's free exchange adds real members without a card or password.

Choose Upleap if you were going to buy followers to look established, but would rather pay for real ones with a person guiding the setup.
Choose Flock Social if speed is the reason you considered buying. It grew our account fastest among the real-growth services.
Choose Kenji if price is the main factor. It costs about the same per month as a mid-sized follower package.
Choose Nitreo if you run a local business and want a bigger, more credible following in your own city.
Choose Buzzoid only if you want a fixed number of followers delivered quickly and you accept they won't engage.
We paid for every tool. We bought each plan with our own card, just like you would.
We ran each one for 30 days. On real accounts we actually run, one tool at a time.
We measured the results. New followers, how many stayed, safety, support and real cost.
We scored and ranked them. The order follows our score out of 5, nothing else.
If you want to pay for real followers, Upleap is our top pick: it grows your account with real people for a monthly fee. If you specifically want a package of followers delivered, Buzzoid is the most established seller we tested.
Buying followers isn't illegal, but it goes against Instagram's rules on inauthentic activity. Instagram regularly removes fake accounts, and when it does, bought followers disappear from your count.
Not in our experience. Bought followers rarely like or comment. In our test, Buzzoid's delivery took our engagement rate from 4.1% to 0.6%, which tells Instagram your posts are less interesting and shows fewer people your content.
Usually not. Most follower sellers only need your username. Growth services like Upleap, Flock Social, Kenji and Nitreo connect to your account because they engage on your behalf, so turn on two-factor authentication first.
Packages start at a few dollars per 100 followers. Growth services that bring real followers start at $39 a month. Per follower, the packages look cheaper, but most of those accounts never engage.
Some will. Buzzoid refills drops for 30 days, but we still lost 486 followers in the two weeks after our test. Real followers from a growth service mostly stay: Flock Social kept 99% of its new followers.
