CASE FILE · INSTAGRAM GROWTH
Short version: Social Sensei charges $375 to $999 a month and promises hand-picked, real followers. What we got over a month of testing was bot followers instead: thousands arrived, engagement fell from 2.6% to 0.3%, and 516 left within two weeks. For real people who engage, see our Kicksta review.
Social Sensei is an Instagram growth agency. Its main plan has a team log in to your account and engage with the followers of accounts you choose, and it also sells influencer marketing, loop giveaways and DM campaigns.
It claims to have worked on more than 75,000 accounts and gained over 25 million followers for clients. Among the Instagram growth tools we've reviewed, it's one of the priciest.
Social Sensei says its team engages manually from your account with the audiences of accounts you name, so curious people visit your profile and follow. The bigger the plan, the more actions it takes. The followers we received didn't look like curious visitors.
Pick Essential, Business or Enterprise and pay for the first month; there's no free trial.
Share your Instagram password and fill in the onboarding form for your account manager.
Name 3 to 5 accounts with more than 5,000 followers whose audience you want to reach.
The team engages with those audiences from your account. Social Sensei says results should start within 48 hours.
Ask within 14 days if you want the money-back guarantee; after that, refunds are partial at best.
Social Sensei is among the most expensive services we've tested, and what it delivered looked like bot followers rather than fans. Unless you're buying its agency services for other reasons, there's little to recommend here.
The pitch is a premium, done-for-you service: a dedicated account manager, manual engagement and access to influencer campaigns that a small brand couldn't easily run alone.
Its own numbers set the bar. Even the Enterprise plan estimates at most 960 followers a month. We got more than five times that, with engagement collapsing and reach barely moving. Real people found through manual outreach don't arrive that fast or that silently; bot followers do.
If you'd rather build a real audience, our guide to growing followers organically covers the habits that matter, and they cost nothing.
Its Trustpilot page also tells a different story from its homepage, which advertises a 4.4 rating. When we checked, Trustpilot showed 3.1 from 92 reviews, with recent reviewers describing fake followers and refunds that weren't honoured.
For another service with the same pattern, read our TrendGram review.
Rocketora is one more name in this space we'd steer clear of.
Our Social Sensei run lasted 30 days, spread over September and October 2026. The test profile had 1,029 followers before we began, and we kept posting as normal.
We read follower count, engagement rate and 30-day reach from Instagram Insights daily. Two weeks after the campaign ended, we went back to count how many followers had gone.
| Metric | Before | After |
|---|---|---|
| Followers | 1,029 | 6,077 |
| Engagement rate | 2.6% | 0.3% |
| Accounts reached (30 days) | 3,890 | 4,089 |
| Followers lost after we stopped (14 days) | – | 516 |
Each plan lists an estimated monthly follower range, which at least sets expectations, even if our results bore no resemblance to them.
Beyond growth, it sells influencer marketing, influencer seeding and giveaway campaigns, which some brands may want.
Social Sensei delivered bot followers. We gained 5,048 followers in 30 days, far above its own estimate of 120 to 960 a month, while engagement fell from 2.6% to 0.3%. Within 14 days of stopping, 516 had already disappeared, the way bot accounts drop when Instagram removes them.
Plans cost $375, $549 and $999 a month. The homepage also says plans start at $249, which isn't one of the listed prices.
When we checked, the site still showed placeholder "lorem ipsum" text, a promotion that expired in December 2025 and a 2023 copyright line.
Full refunds only apply within the 14-day guarantee or if the service never started. The FAQ also says it can't guarantee your account's safety.
| Plan | Price | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| Essential | $375/month | Account manager, targeted engagement; estimated 120–480 followers a month |
| Business | $549/month | Same service at higher volume; estimated 180–600 followers a month |
| Enterprise | $999/month | Highest volume; estimated 240–960 followers a month |
Prices are monthly. The homepage also mentions plans "starting at just $249/month", but the plans listed start at $375. A first-month discount shown on the site had expired in December 2025.
There's no free trial. Each plan lists a 14-day money-back guarantee; outside it, refunds are limited to undelivered service or partial refunds for unused days.
Prices checked October 15, 2026.
Social Sensei's own FAQ says it can't guarantee account safety, that accounts can be shadow-banned or action-blocked, and that it isn't liable if that happens. It also asks for your password.
On top of that, bot followers drag an account down over time: they sit silent, and Instagram periodically sweeps fake profiles away. Instagram's usage rules are worth reading before handing anyone your login.
If you've shared your password with Social Sensei, change it and switch on Instagram's two-step verification.

Social Sensei says it hand-picks real, organic followers one by one. What we got were bot accounts that never engage: thousands of them, an engagement rate down to 0.3% and hundreds gone within two weeks. At up to $999 a month, with a neglected website and limited refunds, it's an easy one to skip. The services in our best growth services ranking bring real followers instead.
Costly, and it handed us bot followers. Kicksta costs far less and brings real people.
1.5/5Our results say yes. It added 5,048 followers in a month, several times its own estimate, while engagement fell from 2.6% to 0.3% and 516 were gone a fortnight after we stopped. Genuine fans don't leave like that; bot accounts do.
An Instagram growth agency. People on its team log in on your behalf and engage the audiences of 3 to 5 accounts you pick. It also sells influencer marketing, loop giveaways and DM campaigns.
Essential is $375 a month, Business $549 and Enterprise $999. Each lists a 14-day money-back guarantee.
Yes. Its FAQ says the team needs your password to access the account.
Only partly. Full refunds apply within the 14-day guarantee, if the service wasn't delivered or if you cancel before the campaign starts. Otherwise partial refunds may be offered for unused days.
Kicksta. It costs a fraction of the price, and the followers it found for us liked and commented, so engagement climbed to 5.5%.
