Best for: Teams that want contact data and outreach in one platform
Apollo.io is the easiest way to get prospect data and outreach under one login. It's the best value pick here for teams under about 50 reps, as long as you watch your credit usage.
Apollo.io pairs a large B2B contact and account database with a sequence builder, a dialer and meeting tools. The Basic plan includes unlimited sequences, prospecting extensions, advanced filters, a deliverability suite with email warmup and CRM integrations. Professional adds A/Z testing, intent filters, lead scoring and call recordings. On monthly billing, Apollo's pricing page lists Basic at $65 and Professional at $99 per seat; Organization costs $149 a seat and is sold on annual billing only, with a three-seat minimum.
You search Apollo's contact and company data with filters, save the people who fit your ideal customer, and drop them into sequences that mix emails, calls and tasks. Extensions for Gmail, Salesforce and LinkedIn pages let reps pull contacts into a sequence while they browse, and higher plans add call recordings with AI insights.
Small and growing sales teams that want to find contacts and run sequences without paying for two separate tools. The free plan makes it easy to test before you commit.

Best for: Large sales teams that need forecasting and call coaching
Outreach is the heavyweight option. Its call analysis, coaching and forecasting are among the strongest available, but the quote-only pricing and depth make it a poor fit for small teams.
Outreach has grown from a sequencing tool into a full revenue platform: sales engagement, pipeline and deal management, forecasting, mutual action plans and conversation intelligence with rep coaching. Pricing follows a consumption model built on AI credits rather than seats alone, and you have to request an Outreach quote; no prices are published.
Reps work from prioritised daily task lists built from sequences, while Outreach records and transcribes calls and meetings, flags action items and feeds what it learns into deal and forecast views. Its AI agents handle parts of prospecting and follow-up, and pricing combines the platform with a pool of AI credits.
Revenue teams with dozens or hundreds of reps, a dedicated sales operations function, and managers who coach from recorded calls.

Best for: Large sales teams that need cadences and forecasting
Salesloft is a polished, mature platform for established teams. It's very capable, but the hidden pricing makes it hard to compare, and it's not a LinkedIn automation tool. Our Salesloft review covers it in depth.
Salesloft combines cadences, conversation intelligence, deal management and analytics, with forecasting tools available as add-ons. It doesn't publish prices or advertise a free trial; every plan is quoted by its sales team.
Reps follow cadences of emails, calls and tasks, while Rhythm, Salesloft's prioritisation engine, decides what each rep should do next. Calls are recorded and analysed, and deal and forecast views help managers spot risk.
Established sales organisations that already run on Salesforce or another major CRM and want cadences, call insights and deal tracking in one place.

Best for: Teams running high-volume email with extra channels
Reply.io is a strong all-rounder for email-first teams, with a huge contact database and an AI SDR. Its LinkedIn features are an add-on rather than its core strength (our Reply.io alternatives cover other options). Read our Reply.io review for the details.
Reply.io's Email Volume plan starts at $59 a month per user with 1,000 active contacts, unlimited mailboxes, warm-up and 50 data credits. Multichannel, from $99 a month per user, adds LinkedIn, calls and SMS. A LinkedIn add-on for the email plan costs $69 a month per account, and Jason, its AI SDR, costs from $500 monthly.
You build sequences across email, LinkedIn, calls and SMS, pull contacts from Reply's database, and let warm-up and mailbox rotation protect deliverability. The Jason AI SDR can prospect, write, reply and book meetings on its own for teams that want to automate the first steps.
Teams that send most of their outreach by email and want an AI agent to take on early prospecting work.
Price from $59/month

Best for: Small B2B teams that want AI-built campaigns
Overloop is convenient for a founder doing their own outbound, but the limits on credits, inboxes and campaigns feel tight for the price; our Overloop alternatives cover other options.
Overloop is the smallest platform on this list. Starter costs $69 a month per user with 250 credits, one email account and three campaigns; Growth is $99 a month per user with 500 credits, three email accounts, ten campaigns, and HubSpot, Pipedrive and API access. A 7-day trial is available.
Overloop's AI suggests prospects, writes sequence steps and prepares email and LinkedIn actions that you approve before they run. Everything sits in one simple workspace with basic CRM integrations on the lower plan.
Founders and very small teams who want a light outbound tool that sources prospects and drafts campaigns for them.
Price from $69/month
A sales engagement platform is the system your reps work in every day. Instead of writing one-off emails and remembering who to call back, they follow sequences: a planned series of emails, calls, LinkedIn touches and tasks spread over days or weeks. The platform sends what it can automatically, reminds reps about the rest, and logs every reply against the contact.
The category has split into two groups. Enterprise suites such as Outreach and Salesloft have added forecasting, deal tracking and call coaching, so they now overlap with revenue intelligence tools. Lighter platforms such as Apollo.io, Reply.io and Overloop focus on finding prospects and getting messages out quickly, and they publish their prices.
Most teams outgrow ad-hoc outreach long before they hire a sales operations person. These are the jobs a good platform takes off your reps' plates.
If your outreach happens mainly on LinkedIn, these platforms are usually not the best tool for that channel. We cover dedicated options in our guide to LinkedIn automation tools.

Prices were checked on each platform's own pricing page on October 16, 2026. Apollo.io's figures are its monthly-billing prices; its Organization plan is annual only.
A three-person team doesn't need conversation intelligence and forecasting. Pick a platform sized for the team you have now, with room to grow over the next year.
If you'd otherwise buy a separate data tool, Apollo.io's built-in database can replace it. If you already pay for data, a sequencing-focused tool may be cheaper overall.
Quote-only pricing makes comparison hard. Ask for the full annual cost, including add-ons and AI credits, before you sign anything.
Check that the platform syncs both ways with your CRM, so activity and replies appear without manual entry.
Warm-up, sending limits and inbox rotation protect your sending domain. A platform that's weak here will hurt every campaign you run.
LinkedIn steps are now common in sales engagement sequences, but LinkedIn's own rules are strict. LinkedIn's help centre spells out a ban on outside tools that click, scrape or send on members' behalf, so any LinkedIn step in a sequence is a risk you manage rather than a free extra.
According to LinkedIn, software and plug-ins that harvest data from its pages, change how they look, or carry out actions automatically are not permitted.

In practice, keep LinkedIn volumes low, personalise every connection request, and let email carry most of the load. If LinkedIn is where your buyers actually reply, use a tool built for it; our Aimfox review explains how a LinkedIn-first tool handles safety limits.

Judge on meetings, not volume After two weeks, compare reply rates and meetings booked, not the number of emails sent.
We started wide. We listed the tools people use most for this job, then dropped any that have shut down or no longer do what they claim.
We checked each tool's own site. Features, limits and monthly prices come straight from the company, on the date shown at the top.
We read what users say. App store and review-site feedback helped us spot problems the sales pages leave out.
We scored and ranked them. Each score reflects how well the tool does the job, how safe it is for your account, and what it costs.
A sales engagement platform helps reps run outreach in a structured way: it schedules emails, calls and other touches in sequences, tracks every reply, and shows managers what's working. Many now add data, call recording and AI assistants.
For most small and mid-size teams, Apollo.io is the best starting point because it combines contact data and sequences and has a free plan. Large teams that coach from calls should look at Outreach or Salesloft.
Outreach and Salesloft don't publish prices. Apollo.io starts at $65 per seat per month on monthly billing. Reply.io starts at $59 and Overloop at $69 per user per month on monthly billing.
Some can add LinkedIn steps, but most treat LinkedIn as an extra rather than their core. If LinkedIn is your main channel, a dedicated tool such as Aimfox (top of our ranked LinkedIn automation list) is a better fit, and you can still run email from one of these platforms or a dedicated cold email tool.
A CRM stores your contacts and deals. A sales engagement platform sits on top of it and runs the outreach: the emails, calls and tasks that move people through the pipeline. Most teams use both, connected together.
Apollo.io has a free plan. Reply.io offers a 14-day trial on its Multichannel plan and Overloop a 7-day trial. Outreach and Salesloft are sold through demos rather than self-serve trials.
