Octopus CRM review: features, pricing and verdict

3/5

Our score: 3/5

It depends

Short version: This Octopus CRM review covers one of the cheapest LinkedIn automation tools around. The Chrome extension handles invitations, messages, profile visits and endorsements from $9.99 a month. It's easy to use, but it runs in your browser and over-promises on safety. For safer, cloud-based outreach, Aimfox's outreach platform is the stronger choice.

What is Octopus CRM?

Octopus CRM runs as a Chrome extension that automates LinkedIn. It sends connection requests, thank-you and follow-up messages, visits profiles and endorses skills, so you can build a simple funnel from inside LinkedIn.

Free LinkedIn profiles are supported, alongside Premium, Sales Navigator and Recruiter Lite, and it adds basic analytics such as profile views and your social selling index. That low barrier to entry makes it one of the easiest LinkedIn automation picks to try.

How Octopus CRM works

Octopus CRM runs inside your browser, using your own LinkedIn session. You choose leads, pick a campaign type and let the extension work through the list.

Step 1: Install the extension

Add Octopus CRM to Chrome and open it alongside your LinkedIn account.

Step 2: Choose your leads

Filter people in LinkedIn search, or upload a CSV of profile URLs.

Step 3: Pick a campaign

Add leads to a connecting, messaging, visiting or endorsing campaign, depending on the action you want.

Step 4: Launch it

Start the campaign and the extension carries out the actions from your browser.

Step 5: Check the stats

Review campaign performance and profile metrics, and export data to CSV, Zapier or HubSpot.

Who is Octopus CRM best for?

Octopus CRM makes sense for individuals who want to automate a few simple LinkedIn tasks on a small budget and don't mind keeping their browser open while it works.

It's less suited to anyone who needs outreach to keep running overnight or wants to stay well inside LinkedIn's rules, because the extension needs your browser open and promotes ways around the weekly invitation limit.

A good fit if you

  • Want the cheapest way to automate basic tasks
  • Mostly send invitations and follow-up messages
  • Use a free LinkedIn account
  • Want simple exports to Zapier or HubSpot

Skip it if you

  • Need campaigns that run with your laptop closed
  • Want email steps alongside LinkedIn
  • Need verified contact data for leads
  • Want a tool that is honest about account risk

Why use Octopus CRM at all?

Price is the obvious draw. At $9.99 a month on monthly billing, the Starter plan costs a fraction of most cloud tools, and every plan includes a free trial.

It's also simple. Users often praise how easy the extension is to learn, which suits someone automating LinkedIn for the first time.

The trade-off is how it works. Because it runs in your browser, your computer has to be on, and features like sending invitations by email to get around LinkedIn's weekly limit go against the platform's rules. The We-Connect review shows what a cloud-based tool offers instead.

Its built-in analytics are a small bonus. Octopus CRM tracks profile views, search appearances and your social selling index, and shows how each campaign performs. For someone new to outreach, that makes it easier to see whether activity is actually making the profile more visible.

How we reviewed it

For this Octopus CRM review we went through the extension's feature pages, noted its monthly and annual prices on 16 October 2026, and checked what reviewers on G2 and Software Advice report after real use. Our editorial standards set out how we handle those sources.

We didn't buy an Octopus CRM plan to test it, so nothing here is a measured result. Its score reflects features, how it handles account risk, price and user reports, as described in how we score.

What we liked

Very low price

Plans start at $9.99 a month on monthly billing, and each one comes with a free trial.

Works on free LinkedIn

No paid LinkedIn subscription is required: free, Premium, Sales Navigator and Recruiter Lite all work.

Easy to learn

The extension keeps things simple: choose leads, pick an action and launch, with exports to CSV, Zapier and HubSpot.

What we didn't like

Runs in your browser

As a Chrome extension it works from your own session, so campaigns pause when your computer is off and activity comes from your own device.

Overstated safety claims

It calls itself the safest tool and says it can't cause any risk, while promoting a way around LinkedIn's weekly invitation limit. No automation tool can promise that.

  • Pro: Works on free LinkedIn accounts
  • Pro: Simple to learn

What we didn't like

  • Con: Runs in your browser
  • Con: Claims no risk, which no tool can promise

Is Octopus CRM safe?

Octopus CRM says its many safety measures mean your outreach can't cause any risk to your account. We'd treat that with caution. It runs from your own browser, and its Connect by Email feature is designed to send more invitations than LinkedIn's weekly limit allows.

LinkedIn's automation help article says it doesn't permit software that automates activity, so any tool, this one included, carries a risk of restrictions. Keep daily numbers low and don't try to work around the limits.

LinkedIn publishes a prohibited tools guide. Read it, and treat any "no risk" promise from an automation tool as marketing.

Octopus CRM review: our verdict

Octopus CRM is a reasonable way to try LinkedIn automation for very little money, and it's easy to use. But it runs in your browser, it lacks email and data features, and its safety claims go further than any tool can honestly promise. If you're serious about outreach, Aimfox is safer and far more capable. For another cloud option in this price range, see LinkedFusion.

Does Platypus recommend Octopus CRM?

It depends

A cheap, simple Chrome extension for basic LinkedIn tasks, but it runs in your browser and makes safety claims no tool can back up.

LinkedIn reviews

I review LinkedIn automation and outreach tools. I care about two things: whether a tool actually gets you replies, and whether it keeps your account safe. If a tool pushes LinkedIn's limits, I'll tell you plainly.
