ALTERNATIVES · INSTAGRAM GROWTH
Social Boost charges from $129 a month for a named growth manager, then fills your account with followers that never interact. Each service below costs less, and every one of them kept its new followers interested in our 30-day test.
In our month with it, 4,970 new followers turned up and engagement dropped from 3.4% to 0.9%. Real people who choose to follow you do not leave a footprint like that.
Its two plans cost $129 and $379 a month. Kicksta starts at $69, and Upleap, Stim Social and Nitreo all start at $39.
569 of those followers were gone two weeks after we cancelled. That is the kind of drop you see when Instagram clears out fake accounts.
The pricing page talks about money back in 30 days, while the separate refund policy treats each request individually and may say no.

Why pick it over Social Boost?
Kicksta grew our account with people who actually liked and commented, at roughly half of Social Boost's entry price. It is the switch we would make first.

Followers who engage. Kicksta took our engagement rate from 4.1% up to 5.5%, the best result in the whole test. Social Boost pushed ours down to 0.9%.
Growth that stays put. In the fortnight after cancelling, only 6 Kicksta followers left us, against 569 from Social Boost.
A fairer price. Kicksta costs $69 a month on its Growth plan, and monthly billing comes with a week's free trial. Social Boost starts at $129 with no trial at all.
You stay in control. The accounts and hashtags it works from are yours to pick, and the daily dashboard shows exactly what it did. No stranger needs to work inside your account.

You want followers who stick around and react to your posts, and you would rather pay less for them.

A bigger number matters more to you than whether anyone behind it engages.

Healthier numbers. Upleap added 448 followers in our test and our engagement rate rose to 4.3%. Social Boost's thousands came with engagement falling below 1%.
Local reach. Upleap can aim at people in particular places, alongside hashtags and lookalike accounts, which suits shops, studios and salons.
Try before you pay. There is a 7-day free trial, which Social Boost doesn't offer.

You want guidance from a real person but not a premium invoice for bot-like followers.

Phone and video calls with your manager are worth more to you than the followers themselves.

Why pick it over Social Boost?
Stim Social points its growth at people likely to visit your site or buy, which is the opposite of a silent crowd that inflates a number.

Targets by industry. Stim suggests targets based on your industry, so a small shop or service business has a sensible starting point on day one.
Brand-safe filters. Its NSFW filter plus allow and block lists stop your account from interacting with profiles you'd rather avoid.
Smaller but real. Stim added 131 followers in our test and lifted engagement to 4.5%. Every one of them was a reason to post, not a statistic.
Clear plans. Plans start at $39 a month. Stim does not list a free trial, so start on the plan you need.

You run an online store or a brand and want followers who turn into visitors and sales.

You only need a quick-looking number and never plan to sell anything.

Quiet visibility. It also watches stories in your niche, so your name appears in viewer lists without any spammy activity.

Yes. The followers Social Boost delivered behaved like bots: thousands arrived, almost none of them engaged, and hundreds disappeared once we stopped paying. A count built that way can pull your reach down, because a post that few followers react to gets shown to fewer people.
Our first choice is Kicksta. No other service in our test produced followers this engaged, and it held on to nearly all of them, for about half of what Social Boost charges to start. If you valued the human touch, Upleap keeps a manager in the picture, Stim Social suits brands that sell, and Nitreo brings the most real followers.
Whichever you choose, cancel Social Boost first and give the new service three to four weeks. Our best growth services list explains how we ranked all of them.
A named manager sounds reassuring, but the title is only as good as the followers it produces. Before you pay for anyone to run your account, it helps to know what good help looks like.
On Premium, Social Boost itself estimates somewhere between 150 and 500+ new followers a month. Our account gained close to ten times that in 30 days, which is a warning sign rather than a bonus. Our Social Boost review walks through the full results.
Growth services often advertise a money-back promise on the pricing page and add conditions in a separate policy. Social Boost is a clear example: one page offers money back within 30 days, the other says refunds are judged case by case. And whoever does the work, the account stays yours under Instagram's terms page, so any penalty lands on you.
A free trial is a simpler safety net. Kicksta, Upleap and Nitreo all let you try them for a week, so you can watch your engagement rate before a single payment. That matters more than any guarantee written in small print.
Whatever service you try next, switch on two-factor login first. Instagram explains how in its two-factor security steps.
You do not need special software to spot bot followers. Three numbers from Instagram Insights tell most of the story.
| Signal | Real growth (Kicksta) | Bot-like growth (Social Boost) |
|---|---|---|
| Followers gained in 30 days | 248 | 4,970 |
| Engagement rate after 30 days | 5.5% | 0.9% |
| Lost in the next 14 days | 6 | 569 |
A sharp rise in followers with falling engagement is the clearest red flag. For the habits that keep growth healthy on your own, see our guide to grow followers organically.
We paid for every tool. We bought each plan with our own card, just like you would.
We ran each one for 30 days. On real accounts we actually run, one tool at a time.
We measured the results. New followers, how many stayed, safety, support and real cost.
We scored and ranked them. The order follows our score out of 5, nothing else.
Kicksta. In our test it produced a 5.5% engagement rate and kept 98% of its new followers, while Social Boost dragged engagement down to 0.9%. It also costs less, starting at $69 a month.
It says it doesn't. But our account gained nearly 5,000 followers in a month as engagement collapsed, and 569 vanished in the fortnight after we stopped. Whatever the method, those accounts acted like bots.
Yes. Upleap gives you an account manager from $39 a month, compared with $129 for Social Boost's cheapest plan.
Of the services that delivered real followers, Nitreo added the most in our test: 679 in 30 days, with engagement rising to 4.1%.
Yes. Social Boost has no long-term contract. Cancel it, then start a free trial with Kicksta, Upleap or Nitreo. Expect the first week to be slower while the new service learns your audience.
Followers who never engage lower your engagement rate, and Instagram tends to remove fake accounts in waves. Many will drop off on their own. Keep posting and let real followers rebuild your numbers. Every service worth considering is ranked in our Instagram growth tools hub.
